Building Memories

Here are the promised pictures a few days late as usual. All I know is, going back to work after a great weekend really stinks.

These pictures were taken at the ranch. After a few measly rides down the hill in front of the house, we took the snowmobiles out to a better hill. It was awesome. The kids would sled down the hill and grandpa would pick them up and bring them back on the snowmobile. They had a great time.

Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent at the ranch. There were many days we would bundle up and sled all day. Grandma and Auntie always had lunch and hot chocolate for us. It is amazing seeing my children starting to experience things that I adored so much as a child. Definitely, good times.

My Latest Creation

Here is my latest creation. I did this pretty quickly with the help of my brother-in-law Marty. He bound it for me, which brings me to a small vent. This was a Maya Road chipboard binder. It had a 3 ring binder in it and 8 chipboard pages. I wallpapered all the pages and used flat embellishments. After 7 hours of time and effort, I was proud of my little project. I put the pages in the binder and of course with my luck, they didn't close. I was pretty annoyed. Anyhoo, Aaron cut off the rings and Marty coil bound it for me. Thanks Marty.

This was a gift for my sister for her birthday consisting of my favorite recipes. Mostly recipes from my mother-in-law. It is so nice to have recipes handed down to me.

I am enjoying a wonderful weekend in Idaho with my family. I will post pictures tomorrow of our snowmobiling and sledding today. It is so nice to get out of the smog and busyness. I love the fresh air and quiet.

Happy Valentines Day!

Well here is my project for the week. Every time I sew I learn new things. I think this will be a skill I will be developing for the rest of my life. I hope someday I can whip out a project with no time at all. As of now, it takes me forever. Oh well. I do enjoy the finished product and the feeling of "I made that". So here are some pictures of my sweet little girl in her new Valentines dress.

Also, Ben had his first Valentines party for preschool. He had such a great time. Last night we made valentines cards and stapled fruit snacks to them. He signed his name on every one. It is so exciting to see him learning and growing. He loves school.

I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day. May your day be filled with lots of love. :)

Some really cool pics...

Where is the time going? I can't believe we are coming to the halfway point of February. If it's not one thing it is something else, right? I have not been scrapping because I have been working on a couple of different projects. I had the hankering to do some sewing. I will show you the finished product on Thursday.

In the meantime, my dad sent me these pictures of our ranch in Idaho. This has been an unbelievable year for snow. It has been years since we've had a snow like this. My dad is living it up on his snowmobile with his brothers. Lucky guy. Enjoy!
This is out by the shed. The wind carved the snow coming off the roof. Crazy!

What looks like clouds at the top of the mountains is actually snow blowing off.

This is snow coming off the top of the roof from the house.

Day 16 and a whole lot of randomness

I'm a little random today. I guess I have a lot to share. First, here is my day 16 layout. I am having so much fun scrapping pink. The paper is so fun to work with and I don't feel guilty about using so much ribbon on a girly page. With Ben's book I always felt bad putting ribbon on his pages. I had to make it look as boyish as possible. With Maggs it is ribbon galore. I'm loving it. If you ever want to know about any of the products I'm using, just ask, I would love to share.

Next, we had book club last night. We read the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I hadn't finished the book because of a busy January, but we had a wonderful discussion. It is a book about a woman's growth in life. She visits three countries and in the process finds herself. I think overall the group would definately reccommend the book. Some of us had a hard time getting sucked into the story and others couldn't put it down. I am going to copy my sister-in-law and have the current book of the month so if you would like you can follow along. The next book is The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards.

Last but not least, I found a treasure today. Every once in awhile we all get in the car and take a trip to the D.I. Aaron usually finds things to paint and I enjoy looking through the racks and shelves for a lost treasure. I usually will leave with nothing and it was looking that way again when a beam of light came from above and landed right on a board game. Yes, seriously, a board game.

I would say about two years ago, Aaron and I played the game Curses with a group of friends in Idaho. It was great. I enjoyed myself so much I looked for it when we got home. I went to the store first and found out it had been discontinued. I looked on ebay, amazon, and toys r us and had no luck. I was bummed, but forgot about it. Today I found it and at the D.I. no less. I ripped it open, it had the directions and all the cards. All mine for $2.00. Woohoo!

Well, as I was writing this I thought I would look again online. I googled it and found a whole bunch for sale. What?! Oh well, you can't beat 2 bucks! Has anyone played this game? Tell me what you think!

Day 15...Here we go Again!

Alright, I'm back from my trip to Mississippi and hopefully things will relax a little. I can always wish, right? So I am continuing on my journey of 31 layouts in 31 Days Challenge. Just fair warning, I may not do this day by day. If I skip a day or two, don't worry I will be back to finish. You know how life gets. I'm just excited to be checking another layout off my list for Maggie's 1 year album.

Another thing, last month I asked for reccomendations on a good sturdy album. With some research I decided on the We R Memory Keepers 3 ring Leather Album. It is beautiful and comes in lots of fun colors. If you are looking for an album you can check them out here or here. I originally saw them on Becky Higgins' blog archived in her October 2007 posts.

Enjoy!
