Good Ole Ruby's

We had a fabulous Spring Break this year. We spent our time in beautiful Southern Utah near Bryce Canyon. Aaron's family meets there once a year for a whole lot of fun. We got there late Thursday night and pretty much hit the sack. It was so nice to arrive at our destination safely and be greeted with hugs and excitement for the upcoming weekend.

Friday morning we went on a 6 mile hike to Calf Creek Falls. The hike there was great. The hike back was terrible. I know now that I need to pay attention to where we are going and prepare accordingly. The hike was nice and at the end we were greeted by a beautiful waterfall with a pool. The hike was warm but the area by the waterfall was rather chilly. If you know Ben then you know that him and water are like peanut butter and jam. They just go together. I'm not exactly sure what he feels inside when he sees something as exciting as a waterfall but I can only imagine it is like hitting the jackpot for someone like you or I. Anyhoo, I looked at Ben and said, "do not get wet, it is too cold". I'm sure although he looked at me and nodded his head he really didn't hear me, because of course in a matter of minutes, Ben was soaked and very very cold.

So the hike back Ben was miserable. He was cold, wet, and a 3 mile hike in wet pants calls for a little chaffe. I literally dragged him a good 2 miles. If I let go of his hand, he would just stand there. I didn't want to carry him because he was wet and muddy. Why should I suffer when he made the bad decision? At one point he just sobbed and the mommy in me felt pure guilt and mercy for this little guy. I finally picked him up and hiked as fast as I could. We eventually made it back. All was well. Lesson learned. When a name of a hike has the word "falls" in it, bring an extra pair of clothes. It is just inevitable, Ben will get soaked. Thanks Zach for pointing that out for me.

Saturday was filled with lots of Easter fun. We had a delicious breakfast. The kids did a craft and had a wild Easter Egg Hunt. To everyones surprise there was an 18 and over Easter Egg hunt. There were Martinelli's and money to be had so everyone was excited. You know, there is nothing like a bunch of grown adults fighting over money. Anyway, Kaila was counting down for the start and my father-in-law decided to take off early. Look here for proof. Of all the people to cheat. As soon as everyone saw him running it was a mad dash for the goods. I was gracefully running when all of the sudden a certain someone decides to stop in the middle of the road making me have to leap out of the way in turn gently bumping into someone else causing her to fall and skin her knee causing me to fall and skillfully army roll on the asphalt bruising up my elbow. That was a very long sentence and not fabricated what so ever. We ended up with a few pieces of candy and a dollar bill. Crazyness.

That night was our Saturday potluck, drawing, and games. We had Guitar Hero set up on a projector and had a ton of fun.

Sunday we had church at the Henrieville ward and a nice lunch afterward. Normally on Sunday it is a rush to get packed and to church on time, but this year we decided to stay an extra night. It was great. We went back to the hotel, napped, and relaxed all evening.

Monday we slept in, checked out, and headed to Mossy cave for a nice little hike. It was a perfect way to end the vacation. Absolutely perfect.
Craft time thanks to Aunt Jamie!
Maggers at the Easter Egg Hunt. She was a bit confused by it all but loved the candy!
Ahhh. Cute.
Dad and the kids in the pool! Ben loved the pool.

My super cute kids in their Easter outfits. Here is the dress I made Maggs. It turned out really cute. The white fabric is eyelet fabric and the yellow ribbon has white polka dots.

Mossy Caves (much more icey than mossy, but super cool!)

Family pic on our hike.

Long post, sorry. :)

Yay! It's Spring!

Two huge signs Spring has Sprung:

1. We walked to the park today and it was perfect.

2. I jogged outside and it was perfect.

Oh joy. I am smiling on the inside and out!

A blog tomorrow about out trip to Ruby's Inn over the weekend. I have lots of pictures. Stay tuned!

Well, hello.

I have been having a blogging lull. It kind of goes along with my last post. I just don't feel like doing the mundane. The everyday inside the house, looking out the window longing for Spring kind of stuff. There is one thing that I am really enjoying inside the house and that my dears is sewing. I have been sewing away. First, I made what is called a pettiskirt. I made it for my friend who takes fabulous photos. I will post more on her when she posts pictures of the skirt.

I also sewed Maggie's Easter dress this year. More on that later also.

And here are a couple of handbags using an Amy Butler pattern. I had so much fun with these. I think they turned out beautiful. One is for me and one is for the craft table at the annual Ruby's Inn Retreat. I actually do have pictures to show you.

Which brings me to another thing. We are going on vacation! Yay! Every year Aaron's extended family meets down South by Bryce Canyon for a weekend full of lots of visiting, hiking, resting, and of course eating. We are very excited for a break from the "mundane" and stir life up a little. I will definitely be posting about the trip.

Now for a random picture for a random post. I'm sure they will be very embarrassed someday that they were hugging in the bath. Ewwww. Love you all! Have a great Spring Break!

Don't you just love bath pictures?

It Officially Hit...

I have Spring fever. I can't take it anymore. I have this antsy, anxious, feeling. I want to go for a hike, a vacation, anything. I just need to get out of the house. Is anyone with me on this? Granted, today was a beautiful day. It was beautiful. But I want more. *Sigh* Here is some random picture. I seriously can picture the sand on my feet. *Huge Sigh*

On another more sane note, to the right is the new book of the month. It looks fun. Hopefully this month, unlike last, I will read it.

Fun Blog for Those Who Enjoy Crafty Creativity

I found this blog through another blog I frequent. She features a creative blog every few days. If you want fun crafty ideas just scroll through old posts and link to other creative people. I'm not talking about your mom's toll painting crafty, I'm talking about photography, sewing, paper crafts, beading, home decorating, cooking, and so on. *Sigh* One more thing to suck up my time. There really is an abundance of ideas out in the blogging world.

Let me know what you think. I am loving the recently featured "One More Moore" blog. I already have it bookmarked. Here are a few things that made me smile. Enjoy!

Yeah, They Still Love Me.

Even though I slept all day, ignored them, coughed and sneezed on them. Even though I had no patience and may have yelled at them a time or two. Even though I may have pushed them away and sent them to dad to read a book or cuddle with, they still love me. They still get excited to see me in the morning, they still want a hug, they still want a kiss, they still want me.

Thank goodness, kids are so resilient. And thank goodness a nasty cold doesn't last forever. I love you my sweet little kids. Thank you for loving me back on my good days and bad.
